UPDATE: Standoff at Knollwood Townhouses ends in arrest

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - Saturday night’s standoff near the area of North Maple Ave. and Surfwood Dr. resulted in the arrest of the man engaged with law enforcement in the standoff.

Rapid City Police responded to an incident around 10 p.m. Saturday where a man had threatened the life of a woman and her baby with a gun.

The man refused to leave the apartment at Knollwood Townhouses. The occupants of the apartment fled the scene, and no injuries were reported.

The Rapid City and Pennington County Special Response Team were called to the incident. After being unsuccessful in getting the man to come out of the apartment, the team sent in their special response robot to clear the residence.

Upon entry, law enforcement found the man and took him into custody.

The incident is under investigation, and the suspect is being charged with Aggravated Assault and Resisting Arrest.
