Union workers for AT&T across the nation went on strike this afternoon, and local employees immediately hit the picket line at the Rushmore Crossing company office.

Workers say they want wage increases, no increase in healthcare contributions, and tighter job security protection against outsourcing.

The contract for union employees expired in February, and negotiations between the Communication Workers of America and AT&T have now reached a stalemate.

Therefore, on Friday at 1:00 Mountain Time, union members across the nation walked off the job.

Protesters in Rapid City say they will remain on strike until a fair settlement is reached.
